Iron Fist Extinguished On Netflix – Series Comes To A Close With Season 2

Marvel’s partnership with Netflix has been a productive one, bringing Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Punisher to life on the streaming platform. That list of characters just got smaller as Netflix announced Iron Fist will not be returning for a third season.

The news arrives fairly quickly after the second season of Iron Fist premiered in September and ahead of Daredevil returning for a third season this Friday.  Marvel and Netflix had this to say about Iron Fist coming to a close.

“Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all of the hard work from our incredible cast, crew and showrunners. “We’re thankful to the fans who have watched these two seasons, and for the partnership we’ve shared on this series. While the series on Netflix has ended, the immortal Iron Fist will live on.”

Danny Rand may no longer have his own show, but the character could easily pop up in other Marvel Netflix series or migrate to Disney’s upcoming streaming service launching next year.

I thought Season 2 of Iron Fist improved on the first in a number of ways and the finale set up an intriguing direction for a Season 3 that now will not exist. I would be down for a possible Daughters of the Dragon series as Misty Knight and Colleen Wing have great chemistry and were two highlights of the previous season.
