The latest beloved children’s property to make the trip to the big screen is The Magic School Bus and the film adaptation has found its star.
Elizabeth Banks has been cast as Ms. Frizzle, the eccentric science teacher who took her class of students on magical field trips to educate in exciting ways. Originally a Scholastic book series, The Magic School Bus was adapted into an animated PBS series with Lily Tomlin voicing the role of Ms. Frizzle. The popular theme song for the show was performed by the legend Little Richard. Universal Pictures is producing the film which will be a live-action hybrid.
I have fond memories of watching the original series as a kid in school. One of the few shows I found during that time to be both educational and entertaining. Elizabeth Banks has shown in the past she can play quirky characters well like Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games films. She should be able to succeed in the role.
