One of the most surprising shows this year was Peacock’s video game adaptation of Twisted Metal. The action-comedy series proved to be a hit with critics and fans, and now has been renewed for Season 2.
The news arrived at the 2023 Game Awards by series star Anthony Mackie. This year in general has been a success for video game adaptations, not only with Twisted Metal but with HBO’s The Last of Us and the major success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie at the box office.
While the good news arrived months after the series concluded, I was optimistic it would return as it became one of the few Peacock originals to generate any substantial buzz. Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz have good chemistry in the 2 lead roles, and were flanked by an entertaining supporting cast of characters. The Season 1 finale ended on a perfect note to set up Season 2 and I just hope we won’t have to wait too long before Twisted Metal returns.
