True Detective returns to HBO early next year and the premium cable channel has announced the Season 3 premiere date.
Kicking off January 13, True Detective is back with another Oscar winner in the starring role. Mahershala Ali plays police detective Wayne Hays across multiple timelines, telling the story of a macabre crime in the heart of the Ozarks. Carmen Ejogo, Stephen Dorff, Scoot McNairy, and Mamie Gummer round out the cast in creator Nic Pizzolatto’s latest mystery.
While Season 2 of True Detective was a step down from the highs of Season 1, I’m hopeful the series can rebound. The long break between seasons should have helped in producing a more focused and compelling story.
The cast is great and the first footage shown is intriguing. Check out the teaser trailer below.
