HBO is gearing up for a big 2020 with a number of returning and new shows premiering. One of the first out of the gate is space comedy Avenue 5 from Veep creator Armando Iannucci.
Iannucci reteams with Hugh Laurie in this new comedy set 40 years in the future where Laurie stars as Ryan Clark, captain of space cruise ship Avenue 5. Joining Hugh Laurie in the cast are Josh Gad, Zach Woods, Nikki Amuki-Bird, Rebecca Front, Lenora Crichlow, Suzy Nakamura, and Ethan Phillips.
The concept of Avenue 5 has a lot of potential with the crew forced to deal with all the space tourists aboard the ship. It’s no surprise HBO would want to stay in business with Armando Iannucci considering the long-running success of Veep. Check out the teaser below and look for Avenue 5 to kick off the new year in January.
