Justice League Dark Series In Development At HBO Max

The Justice League Dark universe has been in development for years, with many attempts to bring the characters to life. Now that goal takes another step towards reality with a series order by HBO Max.

The television series order was part of a three show pickup from Bad Robot Prods. led by mega producer J.J. Abrams and Katie McGrath. Little is known about the potential series aside from the fact it will be “a major series based on DC characters in the Justice League Dark Universe.”

The Justice League Dark roster has shifted over the years, but members have included John Constantine, Zatana, Swamp Thing, Deadman, and Madame Xanadu among others. It is hard to say who would comprise a potential roster, although I would expect them to be TV  friendly even with the large budget HBO Max could provide. Constantine is currently a featured character on The CW’s Legends of Tomorrow, so it would be interesting to see if they might offer a new take on the character or if Matt Ryan would reprise his role in a new show.

Justice League Dark is the second DC show in the works for HBO Max following in the footsteps of Green Lantern from Greg Berlanti. It was also previously announced the second season of Doom Patrol would stream on HBO Max, in addition to DC Universe. I enjoy the supernatural and magical elements of comics, so I hope this project does indeed come to fruition soon.
