Deadpool Scores Writers for Third Film in the Series

The future of Deadpool was uncertain after Disney purchased 21st Century Fox in 2019, but a third film in the series has gotten closer to reality with writers now hired.

News comes by way of Deadline that Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin will pen the script that will see Ryan Reynolds return as the “merc with the mouth.” The two writers are most known for their work on the Fox animated comedy Bob’s Burgers, for which the pair won an Emmy in 2017.

Hiring writers is good news for fans hoping to see another Deadpool film. Also good news is that the film is expected to be Rated R, something that had many fans wondering if it would retain or if Disney would tone the character down to a PG-13 rating to better fit in the MCU.

While a third Deadpool film is still a ways off, I’m glad to hear traction is being made to bring him back to theaters. The blend of comedy and violent action was something different that other comic book films were not doing on the big screen.
