Idris Elba is a man of many talents. Not only is he a successful actor, but he is also a DJ. His latest TV project, Turn Up Charlie, puts his DJ skills to use.
The eight episode comedy series premieres Friday, March 15 on Netflix and finds Idris Elba in a more lighthearted role. For starters he is a struggling DJ who winds up as a nanny for his movie-star best friend’s daughter. Although an unexpected detour in his career, it brings with it potential for renewed success, as the girl’s mother is a star DJ who Elba’s character hopes to collaborate with.
The trailer depicts a different role than usually seen from Idris Elba. It certainly isn’t as dark or serious as his other TV series Luther. His presence, along with Piper Perabo will at least get me to give the series a shot.
