Killjoys may be coming to an end this year on Syfy, but the channel looks to remain in the fun, space-opera business. Syfy has ordered Vagrant Queen to series for a 2020 premiere.
Based on the Vault Comics series of the same name, Vagrant Queen is a science fiction adventure series starring Adriyan Rae. An official synopsis of the show can be read below.
“Vagrant Queen follows Elida from child queen to orphaned outcast, as she scavenges the treacherous corners of the galaxy, always one step ahead of the Republic government out to extinguish her bloodline. When her old friend Isaac shows up claiming her mother Xevelyn is still alive, they head off with their new ally, Amae, to stage a rescue that will take her back into the perilous heart of her former kingdom and up against a deadly foe from her childhood, Commander Lazaro.”
Ordered for 10 episodes, the series also stars Tim Rozon and Paul du Toit, with Jem Garrard as creator and showrunner. I wasn’t aware of the comic before, but reading the description and tone of the series, it does give me some Killjoys vibes. With that show wrapping up with Season 5 this summer, hopefully Vagrant Queen can fill that void for me come next year.
