Amazon is starting to make a push into targeting more genre fare for its upcoming shows. The recent hit The Boys is one such example and Carnival Row releasing at the end of this month is another.
Starring Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne, Carnival Row has been in production for a number of years, but finally releases August 30. Already renewed for a second season, the series focuses on a human detective and a fairy living in a Victorian fantasy world, played by Bloom and Delevingne respectively.
The official trailer released by Amazon certainly points to a high production value and puts the pair front and center. Carnival Row seems to tackle a number of heavy subjects from war and refugees to acceptance and atonement.
