After much speculation and rumors, WWE has officially announced NXT will be heading to the USA Network.
NXT will air live beginning September 18 and expand to two hours. The Wednesday 8/7 central time slot puts the brand in direct competition with All Elite Wrestling (AEW) when it premieres on TNT October 2.
The news isn’t too surprising for any hardcore wrestling fan who expected WWE to challenge the upstart wrestling promotion. It is being speculated that the move is netting WWE $50 million or more a year from the USA Network, thus turning NXT into a profitable brand.
I used to be a hardcore wrestling fan back in the day, but haven’t watched any wrestling on a regular basis in years. Still I would always hear positive things about the NXT brand and particularly its Takeover shows. This upcoming showdown between NXT and AEW has me intrigued and now that both promotions will be airing on TV I plan to check them out when they debut.
