Tom Welling Returns As Superman For “Crisis on Infinite Earths”

One of the best things about the Arrowverse is how it pays homage to superhero shows that came before it. Smallville was a big reason why the Arrowverse even exists and star Tom Welling is coming back as Superman for “Crisis on Infinite Earths”.

Welling had been someone the producers hoped would be a part of the major crossover event. EP Marc Guggenheim had this to say about the casting.

“For eight years, Arrow has stood on the shoulders of Smallville. Simply put, there would be no Arrow, and no Arrowverse, without it. So when we first started talking about Crisis on Infinite Earths, our first, second and third priorities were getting Tom to reprise his iconic role as Clark Kent. To say that we’re thrilled would be a Superman-sized understatement.”

“Crisis on Infinte Earths”starts Sunday, Dec. 8 and consists of five parts spanning multiple Arrowverse shows. Tom Welling’s Superman will be joining Tyler Hoechlin and Brandon Routh who will portray different versions of the iconic character.

As someone who watched all 10 seasons of Smallville, this is great news. The Arrowverse always does a good job with the cross-over events each year and this is shaping up to be the best yet.
