Netflix Announces Release Date For ‘Altered Carbon’ Season 2

The wait has been tremendously long, but Altered Carbon is finally gearing up to return for a second season.

Netflix made the announcement via Twitter that Season 2 will premiere Thursday, Feb. 27.

The eight episode season has Anthony Mackie stepping into the role of Takeshi Kovacs, previously played by Joel Kinnaman in Season 1. Joining Mackie as new additions to the cast are Simone Missick, Dina Shihabi, Torben Liebrecht, James Saito, and Lela Loren. The synopsis for Season 2 can be read below.

“Set more than 300 years in the future in a society transformed by new technology: consciousness can be digitized; human bodies are interchangeable; death is no longer permanent.Season Two of the sophisticated and compelling sci-fi drama finds Takeshi Kovacs (Anthony Mackie), the lone surviving soldier of a group of elite interstellar warriors, continuing his centuries old quest to find his lost love Quellcrist Falconer (Renée Elise Goldsberry).

I’ve been waiting to hear this announcement for a long time. I enjoyed the first season and visually it remains one of the most impressive series I have watched on Netflix. The high production value and extensive special effects no doubt contributed to the lengthy wait between seasons. One can only hope a trailer will arrive soon to offer a glimpse at what the new season of Altered Carbon has in store.
