With Penny Dreadful set to make its return to TV, Showtime has released a behind-the-scenes video diving into the new era of the show.
Penny Dreadful: City of Angels jumps from Victorian Era London to 1930’s Los Angeles in this new incarnation. While the show does feature largely a new cast and new look, the supernatural elements and the fight between good and evil remain.
Natalie Dormer plays Magda, the main supernatural antagonist of the season. Daniel Zovatto plays Tiago Vega, the first Chicano LAPD detective and Nathan Lane is his partner on the force Lewis Michener, a character who acts somewhat as the moral conscious of the show.
I was a big fan of the original run of Penny Dreadful. At first glance this new version seems really different, although that may not be a bad thing as it looks to depict a version of LA not normally seen on screen. Natalie Dormer in particular looks like she can be a lot of evil fun in her role as Magda.
