Legends of Tomorrow may not be back on the air until next year, but the Waverider will continue to host one familiar face.
Olivia Swann who plays Astra on the show has been made a series regular for Season 6. The character’s fate was uncertain at the end of Season 5, but the news means Astra will continue with the team in more time travel adventures. Swann’s addition as a series regular follows Shayan Sobhian who was also promoted to series regular, while Brandon Routh, Courtney Ford, and Maisie Richardson-Sellers all saw their time as Legends end by the conclusion of Season 5.
The decision to bring Swann back as Astra was sparked by the writers feeling there was still more room to explore with the character and the dynamic she added to the team.
I agree and I’m happy to see the character return, as Astra grew on me over the course of the season. Her dynamic with Constantine and Zari 2.0 stood out, with the sorority episode in particular being a highlight for her during this past season.
