Among TV networks HBO is one of the few channels that renews shows very quickly. Barry is the latest beneficiary of that practice with an early renewal for Season 3.
Barry just recently returned for its Season 2 premiere on March 31. The Season 3 pickup shows HBO is clearly happy with the direction of the show so far and what the creative team has in store going forward.
The first season of Barry was certainly a critical success earning three Emmy awards. There was some speculation as to how long the series could last or even if it ideally worked as a one season show. I’ve only just started Season 2, but its made me confident the writers have a plan in mind. It proved to be one of the best new series last year and did a great job in walking the line between comedy and drama.
