‘Gangs of London’ Trailer Wages War In Crime Series From Gareth Evans

There are some filmmakers with a visual flourish that makes any project they are involved in worth paying attention to. Director Gareth Evans of The Raid fame is one such person and his latest project Gangs of London has just released a trailer.

Moving from film to television, Evans collaborates with fellow directors Corin Hardy and Xavier Gens to bring this 10 episode crime series to life. The show kicks off when a pivotal death sets off international gang-warfare in the streets of London. Joe Cole, Sope Dirisu, Colm Meaney, Lucian Msamati, and Michelle Farley round out the cast. While no exact release date is set, Sky Atlantic and Now TV plan to air Gangs of London in the U.K. with Cinemax hosting the show in the U.S.

The footage released quickly makes an impression with Evans’ intense choreography and camera movement shining through in multiple scenes. From a barroom fight involving choke slams and dart stabbings to close-combat machete battles, Gangs of London looks to deliver the type of action rarely seen on TV. Check out the trailer below and look for the series to arrive sometime in 2020.
