Gangs of London Scores Season 2 Renewal – U.S. Broadcast Partner With AMC

Already having aired in the U.K. , Gangs of London has found a new broadcast partner for the U.S. and been renewed for Season 2.

The crime drama series premiered this past April on Sky UK and was set to debut on Cinemax in the States. With Cinemax getting out of the scripted programming game, AMC has stepped up to the plate and will air the ten episode first season this fall for U.S. viewers. Now serving as co-producer, AMC will also air Season 2 alongside Sky UK sometime in 2022. Check out a synopsis of Gangs of London below.

Gangs of London tells the story of a city being torn apart by the turbulent power struggles of the international gangs that control it and the sudden power vacuum that’s created when the head of London’s most powerful crime family is assassinated. The series stars Joe Cole (Peaky Blinders), Sope Dirisu (Humans), Colm Meaney (Star Trek), Lucian Msamati (His Dark Materials), Michelle Fairley (Game of Thrones)  Paapa Essiedu (Press) and Pippa Bennett-Warner (Harlots).”

This is a good news to hear as the trailer immediately made an impression on me after first watching. My only concern with the move from Cinemax to AMC is how much the network will edit the show for basic cable as the mature content seems to be high. With this move it appears that Warrior Season 2 will be the last hurrah for Cinemax’s original slate.
